Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I have waited 30 years for this movie and I’m still deciding if it was the movie that I was waiting for. Probably after seeing it a couple more times I will be able to decide.

I have talked about it with a couple of people and have been told that I sound disappointed, but I’m really not. I was very happy with most of the movie, and my biggest problem is the fact that someone is missing, the same someone that is missing in the trailers, but I will discuss that another time. This movie was definitely made for our generation. It played great homage to the Original Trilogy actors, and it really was good seeing them again.

It is a great “hand off” movie to the next generation of Star Wars stars and fans, the new hero’s are set up and I really think that Abrams did a great job with Finn, and the story with him deciding to not be a Stormtrooper any more (That’s not a spoiler, it’s obvious from the trailers). Kylo Ren might be the most powerful Dark Jedi since Sidious, and it would of been nice to see Captain Phasma more on screen, but I’m sure that is coming next time.

In my opinion this installment was obviously lacking the “Lucas touch”, which I felt ok with. Abrams did for Star Wars what he did for Star Trek, and that’s what I expected!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Fun Rating:8 Stars (8 / 10)
Action:8 Stars (8 / 10)

Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE comic book movies! Even though I am primarily a DC fan, Marvel puts out some great movies!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is probably in my top 5 of the Marvel movies and in my top 10 of comic book movies. Maybe I will make a list in the near future. One of the main things I judge movies on is how much I enjoyed watching it. Let me just say, I really enjoyed watching this movie! Its non stop action from the beginning, and while some of the parts drag on a little bit, all in all its a fun movie to watch!

If you are watching Agents of Shield on ABC I hope you got to see this first because you will be a little lost at the end of Season 1 if you didn’t. Sam Jackson is getting a little old as Nick Fury (I don’t mean his age) and I think its time to go a different direction. The dynami c between Cap and The Winter Soldier could of been explored a little more but I have a feeling that we will get more in Cap 3. I didn’t really like the Falcon character, but again I’m not a huge Marvel fan so maybe I just didn’t know enough about him.

Chris Evans is GREAT as Captain America, definitely better than Johnny Storm! As usual Marvel does a great job with effects, I only wish these effects were around when I was younger, although there is something to be said for the practical effects of Star Wars!

So, watch Captain America: Winter Soldier, but you should probably watch Captain America: The First Avenger first!
