With Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton in the lead it seems as if a genuinely solid attempt was made at recapturing the magic of the first before studio interference didn&#8217;t do justice to the original practical special effects by papering them over with rushed CGI, diminished character moments and re-edited story beats.
