In 1997 in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope George Lucas made the bold decision to “finish” his original trilogy by adding a number of changes and rereleasing the movies to theatres. Acting as a primer for The Phantom Menace that would come two years later it remains one of the most controversial moves in Lucasfilm history with scenes added, recut and digitally altered to move things more in line with Lucas’ original vision. But it wasn’t all bad. In this retrospective we take a look back at the decision made behind every single change including big ones like Greedo shooting first as opposed to Han right down to minor tweaks you might not even have noticed. Thanks for watching!
